My work is about the juxtaposition of various elements, the conflict and resolution of multiple colors fighting for supremacy and the ability to draw the viewer deeper into the work until they perceive a world at first glance unrecognized. Each piece leads the viewer to a place they are familiar with, to a place that they know, even if they don't understand why. The paintings’ success hinges on their ability to create a new experience with each sighting. By combining layers of paint, both brushed and poured, with multiple layers of collage, the viewer becomes entwined into a complexity which requires exploration and questioning before one finds the rhythm for cohabitation. Each painting pulls from the viewer so that each interaction is a unique experience changing with each visit. The paintings have their own language which speaks to the viewer personally. Closing ones eyes, the next glance will take the viewer to an entirely new experience. The journey begins anew each time the paintings come into view. The paintings will call to the viewers and as they step closer, the relationship begins.
